Rather than compromise on the home they loved, the new owners saw an opportunity to unlock what was already there. The design transforms the existing double garages, carport and adjoining spaces into a generous new family bedroom wing. A spacious 5.2m × 4.1m master suite occupies one of the former garage spaces, complete with a generous walk-in wardrobe, tiled ensuite and a large east-facing sliding door opening to the morning sun. Two further 3.7m × 3.5m bedrooms share a carefully planned Jack-and-Jill bathroom, with convenient storage incorporated into the new passage. The existing carport is seamlessly enclosed beneath its established roof form to accommodate the third bedroom, wardrobe and shared bathroom, allowing the new work to sit comfortably alongside the original architecture. The remaining accommodation is formed within the existing slab, making intelligent use of the building footprint while avoiding unnecessary expansion. From the existing home, the new wing is accessed directly from the passage, with the laundry conveniently positioned immediately to the left. The master bedroom sits ahead, while the two additional bedrooms are accessed further along the new hallway. Careful attention to orientation brings generous eastern light into the principal bedroom spaces, while the third bedroom receives northern and western light. The result is more than simply adding three bedrooms. It is a considered transformation of an overlooked part of the property into a comfortable, private and highly functional family wing — giving a family of four the space they needed while preserving the qualities that made this home worth choosing in the first place.
